1) Challenge your child to write one noun/verb/adjective/adverb for a few letters of the alphabet. 2) Write down a few nouns. Ask your child to write a suitable adjective to go with each of them. 3) Put down 3 letters. Ask your child to find 3 verbs/nouns/adjectives/adverbs beginning with these letters in the story you're reading. 4) Put down a few adverbs, e.g. quickly, soon, everywhere, very. Ask your child to write a sentence including each of them. 5) Look in a magazine. Use a different colour highlighter to mark nouns, adjective, adverbs and verbs. 6) Ask your child to change verbs in a story, e.g. from present to past or the other way around.
