Human cells contain a gene for making insulin, The insulin gene is cut out of the DNA using an enzyme, Bacterial cells contain a ring of DNA called a plasmid, The same enzyme is used to cut the plasmid in bacteria, Another enzyme is used to stick the human insulin gene into the plasmid, The plasmid withthe insulin gene is put into the bacteria. The bacteria reproduce and start to make insulin.
