Emphasises the similarity between the two things, alliteration, use of same consonant sounds that are close together, repetition, repeating a word, phrase or idea for emphasis, personification, giving a human quality or characteristic to something which is not human, onomatopoeia, words that sound like the thing they describe, contrast/juxtaposition, contrasting ideas or opposites to highlight the different qualities of the two things or ideas, hyperbole/exaggeration, exaggerating to make something sound better, worse or more important than it really is, triplication/rule of three, three words or ideas grouped together to emphasise the importance of one bigger idea.
