step out of regular thought and the known and trusted pattern - to do something that is not common or accepted, to tithe first fruits of the luck - to ask for one’s share from someone’s sudden good fortune , excitement in the hunt - - a great feeling of eagerness especially about a search on something, the air vibrated - something unusual happened or said and the atmosphere became tense , air is insubstantial - a situation where attention is focused on something that the environment doesn't matter that much, sudden wealth would not turn Kino’s head - Kino would turn into someone arrogant and cold due to huge amount of money , would not graft onto him limbs of greed, hatred and coldness - he would not develop an evil character (a personification of human characteristics) , through the crevices - trying to look at something through narrow openings/holes in the wall , tilted a little forward to show aggressiveness, seriousness and vigor - positioned toward the front side so that the person will appear respectable and physically capable, slipped his feet into his sandals - move his feet forward to wear his sandals, draped it in a narrow strip over his shoulder - wrapped his shoulder with a piece of clothing (a narrow strip - size) , houses belched people - people are going out from their houses, doorways spewed out children - children are seen passing through the doorways, cautioned his brother - a warning about something received from his brother, in pure nervousness - a feeling of uneasiness about something uncommon, far deep in the darkness of the walls - someone or something is hiding and cannot be easily seen on the walls , were hissed to silence by their elders - use of the “sh” sound to stop the noise (usually in an angry manner) , sun beat down on the streets of the city - it’s a sunny day (sun’s heat is felt) and it is everywhere especially on the streets , pearl buyers stiffened and grew alert - they are unable to do the normal bodily movements and are quick to notice something as a result of sudden their surprise or due to an unexpected happening, barred at the windows - unable to come out as the windows are preventing this from happening , face that is fatherly and benign - face that is protective, caring and harmless (as a father), eyes twinkled with friendship - friendly eyes (as in inviting someone to engage in friendship), hovered close to sadness - an attitude lacking energy and optimism, hummed under his breath - carrying a tune under closed lips (so not to be heard), peered out the door - taking one’s gaze towards the door area/looking outside, as steady and cruel as a hawk’s eyes - eyes that show no sympathy or affection, clambered on the windows - an action of getting one’s body higher (to be able to see something) by climbing the windows , fingers worked furiously with the coin - an action of the fingers in which they are moving energetically and hurriedly, coin stumbled over a knuckle - the coin has missed on it’s supposed path or destination, slipped silently into the dealer’s lap - an action of falling without any noise,
