What social media and TV have in common is that both shape opinions more than facts., Both school and work often reward obedience more than creativity., Just as money influences politics, so too does popularity influence truth online., Likewise, gaming and social media can both be addictive, just in different ways., In the same way that advertising sells products, education also “sells” ideas., Similarly, success in life and success in school are not always the same thing., Online dating is like real dating in that both depend on first impressions., Unlike education, real life has no clear answers., Whereas freedom is valued, most people still follow social pressure., In contrast to online identity, real identity is harder to control., The key difference is that social media shows life, while real life is messier., Where people and machines differ is in empathy, not intelligence., While money brings comfort, it does not always bring happiness., When it comes to truth, however, emotion often beats facts.
