take a piece of onion skin and place onto a slide, add a drop of iodine to stain the onion cells, put a coverslip on top, place this slide onto the stage of a microscope, select the lowest magnification objective lens, if the onion cells are blurry turn the focus wheel until they are clear, to see the onion cells more clearly increase the magnification.
