Service Learning - Goes beyond volunteering. Instead of solely committing their time to furthering an organization's goals, students shift their focus to carrying out a community-based task that has defined educational objectives. Service learning must reinforce the academic, technical, and/or employability skills the student is developing in their CTE Program of Study., School-Based Enterprise - Reinforces the academic, technical, and/or employability skills aligned to a CTE Program of Study as students put their learning into practice. They often take on roles that simulate real world work experiences including managers, designers, buyers, social media directors, bookkeepers, production supervisors, customer service representatives, etc. Performance evaluations that align to job descriptions provide opportunities for feedback and help students reflect and grow., Clinical | Internship | Practicum - Provides opportunities for students to practice the skills they have developed in their CTE Program of Study and inform their career planning or transition into the workforce. Schools should collaborate with business and industry partners to ensure that worksite tasks have clear learning objectives, related to classroom curriculum and instruction., Cooperative Work Experience - Schools should collaborate with students and professionals to identify and define measurable learning outcomes. The outcomes should reinforce or expand the academic, technical, and/or employability skills the student has developed in their CTE Program of Study. Cooperative work experiences should focus on creating a meaningful learning experience that prepares the student for their next steps along their career pathway., Registered Pre-Apprenticeship - Must have a clearly established relationship with one or more registered apprenticeship programs. The collaboration includes an agreement on the measurable student learning outcomes students will achieve upon completion of the program. The Memorandum of Understanding or Letter of Support from the registered apprenticeship program may also outline the first-hand tasks the students will engage in to demonstrate the learning outcomes of a Work-Based Learning experience., Workplace Simulation - Provide individualized, authentic learning opportunities that reinforce the academic, technical, and/or employability skills aligned to the student’s CTE Program of Study. The scenarios often direct students to solve real problems, answer questions, or create products based on prior learning and within a safe space where they can learn through both successes and challenges. Students often feel empowered to take on new roles and responsibilities in a workplace simulation that takes place within a protective environment where mistakes are acknowledged as part of the learning process.,
