We use reported speech to communicate what someone/ I said earlier. - someone, After a past (said, told)/ present (says/ tells)tense reporting verb, the original verb often moves one tense back. - past tense reporting verb, There may be/ aren't changes to pronouns, possessive adjectives and time or place expressions. - There may be changes. "I'll go." She said she would go. "It's my car". She said it was her car. "I'll see you tomorrow". She said she would see us the next day"., Could, would and might change/ don't change in reported speech. "We might see you later". They said that they might see us later. - They don't change., 'Say' and 'tell' are the most common reporting verbs, but remember that there are others! He told/ told me that he'd be late. She said to me/ me that she wanted to stay. - He told me that he'd be late.She said to me that she wanted to stay.,
