This ecoregion has abundant vegetation and very little erosion; however, seasonal flooding occurs along the riverbanks., This region has primarily sandy soil and there isn't enough vegetation to prevent erosion from wind and wave erosion., The ecoregion's Pala Duro canyon was formed by water erosion from the Red River; however, high winds in the area contribute to much of the erosion in the region., This ecoregion has very shallow soils lined with limestone rock layers that are very susceptible to chemical weathering with underground cave formation., This ecoregion located in the Chihuahuan Desert has the most mountainous area of Texas; however, the decline of the grasslands has resulted soil erosion due to flash flooding and rapid runoff..
