Air resistance increases so their acceleration slows.., Eventually gravity and air resistance become equal so their speed stays constant, this is their first terminal velocity., The parachute increases the surface making the air resistance higher than gravity, they deccelerate., As they slow down they hit less particles with less force. Air resistance decreases., The air resistance becomes equal to gravity again. The speed becomes constant at a second slower terminal velocity., This second slower terminal velocity means the sky diver can touch down without dying!.
