Most christians view it as a literal cleansing from sin that leaves an irreversible spiritual mark on the individual baptised, while others believe it is an outward symbol of an inward decision to become a Christian. Some believe it is necessary for salvation and others do not., Protestants - a group of people who protested against some of the things preached by the Catholic Church in 1500’s.
