At about 10.40am on 25th August, I met with Ms. Vanessa Chan at Deep Water Bay Beach regarding a vehicle theft, Ms. Chan said she parked her car by a parking metre outside a restaurant at about 09.45am and went to the beach with her son and daughter, She said that when she returned at about 10.00am, she discovered her car was missing., Ms. Chan described her car as a red, 2016 Mitsubishi Eclipse with a black roof. The car registration number is GT 6754. She estimated the value of the car at HK$80,000., Ms. Chan told me she locked the car. She now believes she may have left her mobile phone and purse inside the car. Ms. Chan said she gave no one permission to take her car., I conducted a survey of the crime scene and found two items of evidence. Firstly, I saw broken glass in the area. I took a photograph of the broken glass. Secondly, an octopus card was found near where the car was parked. But there is no name written on it., There were two possible witnesses to this crime. Mr Lee works in the restaurant. He said he saw a young lady, maybe 20 years old, looking around the car at 9.55am. She was wearing blue shorts and a pink cap. Also, Mrs Cheung , a customer in the restaurant also noticed a young lady looking at the car wearing a red t-shirt and blue shorts., The next step in this investigation will be to check the CCTV in Deep water Bay. I will then interview other customers in the restaurant. They may have witnessed the crime. Finally, I will inform the other police officers to look out for the red car driving around Hong Kong..

Detective report.
