We use reported speech to communicate what someone/ I said earlier. - someone, After a past (said, told)/ present (says/ tells)tense reporting verb, the original verb often moves one tense back. - past tense reporting verb, There may be/ aren't changes to pronouns, possessive adjectives and time or place expressions. - There may be changes. She said she would see us the next day"., Could, would and might change/ don't change in reported speech. "We might see you later". They said that they might see us later. - They don't change., 'Say' and 'tell' are the most common reporting verbs, but remember that there are others! He told/ told me that he'd be late.
