Mina receives a telegram about the deaths of Lucy and her mother., Van Helsing shows Seward a newspaper article about children with wounds on their necks., Van Helsing says that Lucy caused the wounds on the children., Van Helsing asks Arthur for permission to open Lucy’s coffin., Arthur agrees to take part in the dangerous plan., The friends secretly go to the churchyard at night., The friends open the coffin and find it empty., Van Helsing seals the tomb with sacred wafers., The friends see Lucy walking with a child., Van Helsing stops Arthur with a crucifix., Lucy returns to the tomb but cannot enter because of the seal., Lucy is finally freed after Arthur drives the stake through her heart.
