- animation objects are drawn on celluloid transparent paper. In order to create the animation sequence, the animator must draw every frame. It’s the same mechanism as a flip book just on a grander scale. - Traditional/cel animation, - one of the oldest forms of animation. The technique is essentially 2D stop motion. An animator moves shapes from frame to frame to create the illusion of movement. - Cutout animation, - a technique used in animation to trace over live-action motion picture footage frame by frame. Back in the day, animators would project live-action images onto a glass panel and then trace over that image. Today, predominantly done on computers. - Rotoscoping, - the basic mechanics are similar to the traditional style like a flipbook. However, instead of drawings, it adjusts physical objects in each frame - Stop motion, - the animator uses a program to move the character’s body parts around. They set their digital frames when all of the parts of the character are in the right position. - 3D computer animation, - one of its most distinctive characteristics is that often, it is animated on 3s, which means there is a new image every three frames. - Anime, - a form of stop-motion animation where each animated piece, including characters and some backgrounds, is constructed out of a malleable substance, which is typically plasticine clay - Claymation, - a technique used in animation to create movement in characters. It works by creating a digital skeleton inside the character and then moving the skeleton to make the character move. - Skeletal animation, - a type of animation where puppets, dolls or figures, are moved by people to create a story. - Puppet animation, - the animator draws a few important pictures that show the main poses or positions of the characters in the scene. Then, they fill in the spaces between those poses with more drawings to make it look like the characters are moving smoothly. It's kind of like drawing a stick figure and then adding details to make it look like a real person. - Pose-to-pose animation, - a type of animation that uses pictures, charts, and graphs to show information in a fun and easy-to-understand way. - Infographic animation,
