Can increase anxiety & decrease focus. , Performance Goals - Compares your current performance to previous performances. Can decrease motivation in the long-term if you’re results/performance plateaus., Process Goals - Should be set 1st. Focus on what the athlete has to do in order to improve their performance, Progressive goals - ST, MT, LT goals, Mastery Goals/task or learning goals - Goals are based on: Personal improvement , Beating past performances, no comparison against other athletes, Types of Mastery goals - MAV & MAP, MAP Goals - Focus on performing a task well and outperforming previous bests . Linked to IM to accomplish , MAV Goals - Focus on not making mistakes or not letting your performances drop/decrease from previous. Linked to anxiety , Types of competition goals - Pav & PAP, Competition Goals - Focus on demonstrating superiority over another athlete or not being out performed., PAV - Comparison against others, Focus on the negative aspects of sport & creates high levels of stress and anxiety decreases motivation, PAP - Goals focus on enhancing an athlete's belief in their own abilities and increasing their confidence levels.,
