What is the primary function of a centrifugal pump in industrial applications?, It moves fluid by converting rotational kinetic energy into hydraulic energy, It is a device used to cool down electrical circuits by blowing air, Approximately what percentage of industrial pumps are centrifugal?, 70-80%, only 5% of all pumps are centrifugal, Which part of the pump is considered the “heart”?, The delivery pipe is the heart because it releases the fluid, The impeller, What is the purpose of the casing in a centrifugal pump?, It is a shell that guides fluid out of the pump and helps convert velocity into pressure energy, Its purpose to store fluid like a tank until it is needed later, What component acts as the prime mover to drive the impeller?, The motor, The suction pipe acts as the prime mover, How does fluid enter the centrifugal pump?, It enters through the suction pipe and reaches the eye center of the impeller, Fluid enters by being injected directly into the volute casing from the outside, What happens to the fluid as the impeller rotates?, The impeller slows the fluid down to a complete stop to preserve energy, The impeller impacts kinetic energy to the fluid, and centrifugal force pushes it outward, Where is the fluid’s velocity converted into pressure energy?, In the volute casing, This conversion happens inside the motor housing, What are three common real-world applications for these pumps?, Making toast, painting walls, and cleaning windows, Chemical industries, oil and gas/petrochemical plants, and car coolant systems, Name one key advantage of using a centrifugal pump, They are very complex to design and require constant, heavy manual labor to operate, They are simple in design, have low maintenance needs, are reliable, or are suitable for high flow rates
