virtual memory - An area of HDD that stores temporary memory when RAM is full, RAM - Volatile memory  that is lost when the device is turned off , ROM - Non-volatile memory that stores the BIOS of a device , cache memory - Memory used to store frequently visited pages or files , solid state drive - Uses flash memory to read and write data on to the storage device. Example  USB Stick, optical drive - Read and write data on discs such as CDs & DVDs, magnetic drive  - Reads and writes data on a disk such as a HDD, CPU - Processes data and instructions in a computer , clock speed - Measures the number of instructions a CPU executes per second, NIC - Network interface card/controller , topology - The different methods of connecting computers , peer to peer - All nodes on the network are equal , client to server - The server provides services for client workstations, router  - Connects all networks and routers data packets to their intended recipient , domain name server  - A computer server that contains a database of many IP addresses and their associated domain names, protocol  - Rules or standards for a device to communicate, accumulator - A CPU register that will store the result of a calculation, GHz - The unit that clock speed is measured in, cache - small and fast memory, MAC address - A unique hex code registered to each network device,
