caesura - a pause near the middle of a line of  poetry. For example "We are prepared: we build our houses squat,", simile  - when two items are compared using the words "like" or "as". For example "Threw up a yellow hare that rolled like a flame" , personification  - when something that isn't alive is given a human quality. For example "Bullets smacking the belly out of the air", asyndetic listing  - a list that doesn't have connectives in (a list that doesn't use the word and). For example "I gave him food, shelter, clothing.", end stopped line - a  line of poetry that ends with a full stop, exclamation mark or question mark. For example "Strange, it is a huge nothing that we fear.", enjambment  - when a sentence goes over more than one line or stanza in a poem. , sibilance - the repetition of the "s" sound. For example "Then the shot - slashed furrows", ambiguity - when something is mysterious or not made totally clear. For example "Suddenly he awoke and was running" is mysterious as we don't know exactly who he is. ,
