弟子规，圣人训。dì zǐ guī ，shèng rén xùn, "The Rules for Students" are the Sage’s teachings., 首孝悌，次谨信。shǒu xiào tì，cì jǐn xìn, First be good to parents and respect elders; next be reverent and trustworthy., 泛爱众，而亲仁。fàn ài zhòng，ér qīn rén, Love everyone and become close with the kind-hearted., 有余力，则学文。yǒu yú lì，zé xué wén, If there’s energy left over, then study books., 父母呼，应勿缓。fù mǔ hū，yìng wù huǎn, When parents call, don’t be slow to answer, 父母命，行勿懒。fù mǔ mìng，xíng wù lǎn, When parents give an order, act, don’t be lazy., 父母教，须敬听。fù mǔ jiào，xū jìng tīng, When parents teach, one must listen respectfully., 父母责，须顺承。fù mǔ zé，xū shùn chéng, When parents scold you, listen and accept it., 冬则温，夏则凊。dōng zé wēn，xià zé qìng, Keep parentswarm in winter and cool in summer., 晨则省，昏则定。chén zé xǐng，hūn zé dìng, Greet parents in the morning and settle them at night., 出必告，反必面。chū bì gào，fǎn bì miàn, Inform them when leaving, and check in when back., 居有常，业无变。jū yǒu cháng，yè wú biàn, Live a steady life, and stay true to your work.
