He frowned and turned away, عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّى, Because the blind man came to him, أَن جَاءَهُ الْأَعْمَى, You never know, perhaps he may be purified, وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّهُ يَزَّكَّى, Or be mindful, benefiting from the reminder, أَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنفَعَهُ الذِّكْرَى, As for the one who thinks himself self-sufficient, أَمَّا مَنِ اسْتَغْنَى, To him you give your attention, فَأَنتَ لَهُ تَصَدَّى, Though you are not to blame if he is not purified, وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَلَّا يَزَّكَّى, But as for the one who came to you eager, وَأَمَّا مَن جَاءَكَ يَسْعَى, Being in awe of Allah, وَهُوَ يَخْشَى, Of him you were inattentive, فَأَنتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهَّى, But no! This is truly a reminder, كَلَّا إِنَّهَا تَذْكِرَةٌ, So let whoever wills be mindful of it, فَمَن شَاءَ ذَكَرَهُ, It is in honored scriptures, فِي صُحُفٍ مُّكَرَّمَةٍ, Highly exalted, purified, مَّرْفُوعَةٍ مُّطَهَّرَةٍ, By the hands of angel-scribes, بِأَيْدِي سَفَرَةٍ, Noble and righteous, كِرَامٍ بَرَرَةٍ, May humanity be destroyed! How ungrateful they are!, قُتِلَ الْإِنسَانُ مَا أَكْفَرَهُ, From what substance did He create him?, مِنْ أَيِّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقَهُ, From a sperm-drop He created and destined him, مِن نُّطْفَةٍ خَلَقَهُ فَقَدَّرَهُ, Then He eased the way, ثُمَّ السَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُ, Then He causes him to die and be buried, ثُمَّ أَمَاتَهُ فَأَقْبَرَهُ
