Anticyclones are areas of [high] pressure which form when air [sinks].  They spin in [clockwise] direction with light winds.  They usually cover [large] areas and give [long] periods of fine settled weather.  In winter skies are clear giving [cold] temperatures, frost and fog.  In summer skies are clear giving [hot], sunny weather with 'heat wave' conditions..
