The Elizabethan Religious Settlement was Elizabeth I’s [answer] to the religious problems that grew during the reigns of Henry [VIII], Edward VI (an extreme [Protestant]) and Mary I (an extreme [Catholic]). The Settlement was made up of two Acts passed by Parliament in 1559. The first was the Act of [Supremacy], which confirmed English [independence] from Rome. The Act of [Uniformity] established a set of rules that all [churches] in England had to follow from 1559 onwards. Although the Settlement was meant to appeal to every [Christian] in England, it caused a lot of [resentment]..
