Trial includes witness giving evidence. Bench of mag or jury decide verdict., Seventh stage - Mag or judge give punishment if guilty. Sentencing Council give guidelines to help courts. If custodial sentence given, defendant sent to prison., Eighth stage - HMPS oversee welfare of prisoners. HMIPs - independent body. Report conditions and treatment of prisoner., Ninth stage - On release they're on licence, subject to supervision by probation. Must not breach.,
