Some characteristics of this element are intensity, value, and temperature., SHAPE - A 2-Dimensional enclosed area. Can be geometric or organic., TEXTURE - How a surface feels. When artists create this element it can be actual or implied., FORM - A 3-Dimensional object. In-the-round. Implies depth, length, and width., SPACE - This element is used to create the illusion of depth within an artwork. It can also refer to the positive and negative space between, around, or within objects., BALANCE - The distribution of visual weight in an artwork. The three types of balance are symmetrical, asymmetrical, and radial., UNITY - All elements within the artwork work in harmony, RHYTHM - Repetition of elements such as line, shape, and form to create interest, consistency, and a tempo., PATTERN - An arrangement of recurring, alternating, or repeating elements to create consistency., EMPHASIS - A focal point in an artwork. Draws the viewer's eye to particular areas of the artwork first., CONTRAST - The difference between elements in a composition. This can happen through a variety of elements such as value change, size difference, etc., PROPORTION - Sometimes called scale, it refers to the relationship between objects within the artwork. When drawing this would be referred to when comparing how big/small something is compared to the other.,
