First, Hannah is frustrated about attending the Passover Seder and not understanding its importance., Second, Hannah opens the door for Elijah and is suddenly transported back in time to a Polish village., Third, Hannah meets Gitl and Shmuel and begins living as “Chaya” in the village., Fourth, The village is invaded by Nazis, and the villagers are forced onto trains., Fifth, Hannah and the others arrive at the concentration camp and are separated from their families., Sixth, Hannah begins to understand the harsh realities of camp life and forms a bond with Rivka., Seventh, Rivka is chosen for selection, and Hannah takes her place.  Rivka shares her story and helps Hannah understand how people survive and support each other in the camp., Eighth, Hannah is taken with a group of prisoners and walks into what they are told is a shower, but it is actually a gas chamber..
