Contains two respiratory centers. One that controls the length of inspiration and expiration and another that controls respiration rate, Reticular Formation - Responsible for increasing wakefulness, attention, and responsiveness, Cerebellum - Located under the occipital lobe, posterior part of the brain. Coordinates involuntary movement, posture, and muscle tone. Maintains overall balance and coordination, Spinal Cord - Extends from brainstem to base of Skull and down to Coccyx, Broca Area - Located in frontal lobe. Responsible for speech and processing of language. People with damage to this area can understand words, but have trouble putting words together (difficulty expressing words), Wernicke Area - Located in the temporal lobe. People with damage to this area have difficulty with comprehension of written and spoken words and difficulty with reading and wrighting , Aphasia - Can occur from brain injuries and make it difficult for people to express themselves. Use a picture board for communication, Dysphasia - Difficulty swallowing. Symptoms include drooling, coughing, or gagging, then swallowing.
