The writer was in Cumaná and  - met an explorer., The explorer's name was - Alexander Humboldt., Humboldt wanted to explore - the Orinoco River, Humboldt needed a helper - who spoke English and Spanish., They found some electic - eels in the river., Humboldt picked one eel up - and got a terrible electic shock., Humboldt nearly - died., Humboldt opened an - eel with a knife., Humboldt wanted to discover how - the eel worked., They also climbed - the Chimborazo Volcano., Mr. Humboldt always carries - scientific instruments with him., Humboldt discovered that the volcano is  - 5878 metres high., It was dangerous because - there was ice at the top., The writer was scared - but Humboldt laughed.,
