Background: Community development is a series of strategies that helps support individuals to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote change within their local communities., It adopts a holistic approach, applying principles such as social justice, equality, empowerment, human rights, inclusion and self-determination (Kenny, 2007)., Context of case study: R4Respect is a project that aims to prevent domestic violence through education strategies., Purpose: This case study report examines how R4Respect community development workers draw on a range of skills, values and insights from various social theories and models of practice to achieve positive outcomes when addressing social issues., Outline: It provides a critical analysis of the core community development characteristics such as principles of social justice, equitability, inclusiveness, and discusses this initiative within its broader social, political and economic contexts., Finally, this report evaluates the effects and outcomes of this project on young people in Australia.,
