initailise isAlpha to False, loop until isAlpha is True, get a character input from the keyboard, convert the character to its ordinal value and store in numVal, check NumVal is in the valid range 'a' ..'z' or 'A' .. 'Z', set the loop termination when valid character entered, display error message, prompt for re-entry of a character, exit the loop.
