This order usually refers to a specific time and place. Sometimes days and years are used., Infer or Inference - To come up with a conclusion about a text using clues within the text and your background knowledge., Context Clues - Using hints within a passage to figure out the meaning of unknown words., Text Evidence - Exact words, phrases, and sentences in a text that can be used to support your answer. It is great to cite the page and/or paragraph number when referring to text evidence in your answer., Description or Descriptive - Description refers to words that are used to create a picture within your mind. When words are descriptive, they may describe specific smells, tastes, or feels., Cause - The action or reason something happens. I think of it as the "why". Why? BeCAUSE., Effect - The outcome of the cause., Problem - Difficulty, Solution - Resolution - how the problem is solved., Compare - Looking at similarities, Contrast - Differences, Summary or Summarize - Using the most important details to share what a text is about., Main Idea - The point of a text, Details - Facts, statements, and descriptions that help support the main idea, Author's Purpose - The reason(s) the author wrote something, Informational text - Nonfiction - provides facts, Debate - A discussion between two or more sides with different views, Fact - truth, Opinion - A personal feeling,
