It is the main organ of the cardiovascular system. It is the size of a fist and is located just behind and slightly left of the breastbone. It pumps blood through a network of arteries and veins throughout the body. - Heart, It is one of the most complex organs of the body, made up of more than 100 billion nerves that help other organs communicate with each other. - Brain, A pair of spongy, air-filled organs that are part of the respiratory system and located on either side of the chest (thorax). - Lungs, A pair of bean-shaped organs that are part of the urinary system and located on either side of the spine, below the ribs, and deep in the abdomen. - Kidneys, The largest internal solid organ in the body located on the right side of the abdomen. It has multiple functions, the most important being energy production and metabolism. - Liver, It acts as a protective barrier against bacteria or fungi from entering the body. It maintains body temperature and pH balance. - Skin, Support organs and muscles and play a major role in calcium metabolism in the body. - Bones, Produce hormones that help the body deal with stress. If these organs fail, the body may go into a potentially fatal shock. - Adrenal glands, A muscular organ located in the pelvic cavity. It stretches to store urine and contracts to release urine. - Bladder, A muscular, elastic, pear-shaped bag, lying crosswise in the abdominal cavity beneath the diaphragm. Its main purpose is digestion of food through production of gastric juices which break down, mix and churn the food into a thin liquid. - Stomach, Located between the stomach and the anus and are divided into two major sections: small and large. The function of the small is to absorb most ingested food. The large is responsible for absorption of water and excretion of solid waste material. - Intestines, An organ located in the abdomen. It plays an essential role in converting the food we eat into fuel for the body's cells. It has two main functions: an exocrine function that helps in digestion and an endocrine function that regulates blood sugar. - Pancreas,
