set up equipment as shown, measure 100ml water with a measuring cylinder and place in a beaker, place on gauze, add a thermometer and record temperature, add 5 level spatulas of salt to beaker, start a timer and stir until dissolved, record the time taken to dissolve in a results table, turn on the Bunsen and use a blue flame to heat the water for 20 seconds turn off Bunsen, record the new temperature, add a spatula of salt, start a timer and stir until dissolved , record second time in a table, turn on Bunsen for 40 seconds, turn off the Bunsen, add 1 spatula of salt, start a timer and stir until dissolved, repeat all of the above twice more and calculate an average.
