Physical/Natural Boundary - coincide with significant features of the natural landscape- such as mountains, deserts or water sources, Cultural Boundary - Follow the distribution of cultural characteristics such as religion or language, Geometric Boundary - agreed upon straight line (often along latitude or longitude lines), Subsequent Boundary - Boundaries drawn where people have already settled with cultures already established (and take them into account), Consequent Boundary - subset of subsequent since it is drawn out of consequence of something happening or to accommodate another group, Antecedent Boundary - political boundary that existed before the cultural landscape existed and stayed in place while people move in to occupy the surrounding area (opposite of subseqent), Superimposed Boundary - drawn by outside powers that do not pay much attention to the social, cultural, and ethnic compositions of the populations they divide, Relic Boundary - national border that no longer exists, but has left some imprint on the local cultural or economic geography,
