Tundra - The coldest of the biomes, very little precipitation, permafrost (frozen soil), Desert - The driest of all the biomes as it receives very little rainfall, hot during the day and cold at night, rocky & sandy soil, Taiga - Cold temperatures but not as cold as Tundra. Consists mostly of trees that grow needles instead of leaves., Temperate Deciduous forest - This area is exposed to warm and cold air masses, which gives this area all four seasons. Consists of trees that grow leaves that are dropped in cooler temperatures., Rainforest - Located close to the equator. There are two types of these, tropical and temperate. There is great biodiversity and consistent temperatures., Grassland - Open, generally flat areas of grass. A few trees may be found along streams, but not many due to the lack of rainfall. Home to many herbivores., Biome - A community of plants and animals living together in a particular climate (precipitation and temperature), Biotic Factor - Living organisms in an environment., Abiotic Factor - Nonliving parts in an environment.,
