Make sure low power (shortest) objective lens is turned, Fix slide on stage with stage clips, Make sure sample is in the centre of the light , Turn the coarse adjustment knob, Turn the fine adjustment knob if needed, Turn to high power objective lens, Only turn fine adjustment knob , Use stage knobs to move around the sample.
