Virus - A submicroscopic infectious agent that replicates only inside the living cells of another living organism., DNA or RNA - Instructions packaged inside the virus' protein coat that get injected into the host cell, Protein Coat - Protective coating on the outside of a virus that contains the DNA/RNA, Spike Proteins - Proteins on the outside of the virus that allow it to bind to the outside of a specific host cell and enter it, Host Cell - Any living cell that the virus can enter and exploit to make more copies of itself, Parasite - Any organism that lives on/inside another organism and exploits it for resources eg. viruses exploit their host cells by using them as replication factories, Transmission - The movement of viruses from host to host, R-number - A measure that indicates how easily a virus can spread between people, Airborne Virus - Viruses that move between hosts via the air, Antibiotics - Drugs that disable a cells ability to replicate these do NOT work on viruses because they are not cells, Immune System - Cells in the human body that attack invading pathogens (viruses, bacteria, fungi), Epidermal Cells - Skin cells - these are often the first line of defense against viral infections, Cell - The smallest most basic unit of life, viruses are smaller than cells and aren't technically alive, MMR  - Measles vaccine that contains a live measles virus that has been weakened, Pathogen - Anything that can enter the human body and cause an infectious disease eg. bacteria, fungi, viruses, Epithelial Cells - Cells that line the throat and mouth - these are often the first host cells that measles infects, Fatigue - Feeling of overwhelming exhaustion caused by virus hijacking your cells and using up their energy supply, Encephalitis - Swelling of the lining around the brain this is a very serious complication of measles, Sore throat - One of the first symptoms of measles caused by throat epithelial cells getting infected then bursting when the virus escapes the cells,
