Let's say you've, eaten at the same restaurant ten times in the last three months. You will, probably find it very difficult to say on which of the ten occasions a certain conversation took, place, especially without other distinguishing details such as something particularly disastrous, that happened. It seems that the brain tries to condense all these similar events , into one so that when you recall something, you may be rewriting the story in, the light of new information. As a result, we are all rather unreliable, witnesses, something that lawyers have always exploited when cross-examining in the law courts.
