Changing Landscape - Constant sugar farming changed the landscape of the Caribbean permanently., Local ecosystem - Animals, birds and insects that used those trees were endangered and 17 species made extinct because of the change in habitat, Native peoples - The Native population died due to diseases brought over from Europe, such as small pox., Wealth generated - Money made would be sent back to London to pay tax, make investments and pay the business owners. The Caribbean saw little money put into its towns, roads, houses or businesses., After abolition - Even after Slavery was made illegal, many ex-slaves continued to work on the sugar plantations because there were few if any other jobs available for African peoples, Failing industries - No one wanted to trade in goods other than sugar. There was no incentive to develop other industries like clothing, machinery, farming etc.,
