Repetition - repeating of words, phrases or whole sentences, Connectives - These could be used to shift the reader’s focus: – eg meanwhile, finally, although., Sentence types - For example, a multi-clause sentence could be used to build up layers of description to create a vivid setting- eg multi-clause or single clause, Sentence length - eg short to show tension, Paragraph length - eg single line paragraphs to focus the reader., Change of tense - eg from present to past., Exposition - the setting of the scene for the reader, this could be a description of setting or the backstory of a character, Crisis point or climax - an exciting or tense part of the text., Resolution - the conclusion of the narrative, where conflicts are resolved, or meaning is revealed., Flashback - The narrative structure is interrupted with events from the past, Foreshadowing - Events early in the text hint at what will happen later, Non-linear - The narrative structure does not follow the usual pattern of beginning-middle-end, Linear - The narrative flows in the normal pattern of time, Cyclical Structure - A story that ends in the same place it began, Juxtaposition - The act or an instance of placing two or more things side by side often to compare or contrast or to create an interesting effect,
