Continental plate, Oceanic plate, The movement of the plates is driven by convection currents in the asthenosphere, When the plates converge, the more dense oceanic plate is forced under the less dense continental plate., A deep trench forms where the two plates meet e.g. Mariana Trench, The sinking oceanic plate causes pockets of rock to melt and form magma.  , The less dense magma rises and sits in magma chambers in the crust, When pressure in the magma chamber gets too high, an eruption occurs forming a volcano e.g. Mt Ruapehu.
