Global Maritime Distress and Safety System is an international system of radio signals to inform about different problems on board or over board., This system helps to save people., There are three signals in GMDSS: May Day, Pan Pan and Securite., May Day is a signal of distress., We can hear it when the problem is very serious, for example, fire, explosion, flooding, collision, grounding, piracy or sinking. People are in danger., Pan Pan is a signal of urgency., We can hear it when a vessel needs help, for example small fire on board, broken propeller, medical assistance or unsure position., People are out of danger., Security is a signal of safety., We can hear it when somebody wants to inform about navigational or weather problems.,
