1) Consider the characterisitcs of your students: get to know them! Start from their known world. This way your activities will lead to meaningful learning. 2) Young learners learn by doing, getting involved and using all their senses. So they need to listen, look, move, touch, smell! 3) Young learners love to play! This way they wil have fun whiles they learn and will hav ethe opportunity to use the target language within a context. So you need to play alot!! 4) Sing songs related to the topic you are teaching. Melody helps the language remain in the long term memory. They won`t understand the isolated words, but will be able to use the phrase functionally 8) Remmeber vocabulary needs to be kept in the long term memory. So after your students learn it, they need to use it. This way they can make words their own and in future use them in production. Remember: Use it or lose it! 9) Remember children need routines: they have predictability and help with vocabulary and structure 10) Manipulatives are always a good idea: flashcards, songsheets, mini-books, puppets
