Frampton has repeatedly cited Catalonian architecture as demonstrative of “critical regionalism”., An example of this inherently Spanish regionalism can be found in the theories of Ignasi De Sola-Morales., In “Minimal Architecture in Barcelona”, De Sola-Morales, as identified by Stevanovic, proposes a perspective of Catalonian architecture that hints at it as a “weak thought”, a concept established by philosopher Gianni Vattimo.21, This gives opportunity for selective and regional employment of modernism over an international post-modernism – one facet of a broader, more Spanish definition of regionalism., As De Sola-Morales states, “…precisely what distinguishes this…architecture from post-modern internationalism…is a certain eclectic taste for modernity”.22.
