advantages of ground telescopes: they use lenses or mirrors to magnify distant objects so that they are more visible to the naked eye, non-optical (i.e. radio or IR telescopes) allow us to see other forms of light from space which are invisible to the naked eye, when placed high on mountains, the thinner air and lack of light pollution enhance the viewing capability, easy to repair when damages, much cheaper than space telescopes to build and set up, disadvantages of ground telescopes: clouds and atmospheric particles can distort the light from space leading to blurry images, light pollution can interfere with the light from space objects making it difficult to see clear images, advantages of space telescopes: there is no atmospheric distortion so images are clearer and we can see objects further away, Spaced based telescopes can be orbital (going around the Earth or voyaging (going deeper into space e.g. Voyager), can detect wavelengths of light that normally are reflected off Earth's atmosphere and can never be detected by ground telescopes, disadvantages of space telescopes: expensive and difficult to launch, can be damaged by meteors and other space debris, these create obstacles for other space craft to navigate around, difficult to repair when damaged,
