הִדְלָה עָלֶיהָ - if he lifted up over it, אֶת הַגֶּפֶן - the grapevine, וְאֶת הַדְּלַעַת - or the vine of a gourd, וְאֶת הַקִּסּוֹם - or the vine of an ivy, וְסִכֵּךְ עַל גַּבָּהּ - or put sechach on top of it, וְאִם הָיָה סִכּוּךְ - And if the sechach was, הַרְבֵּה מֵהֶן - more than them, אוֹ שֶׁקְּצָצָן - or if he cut them off, זֶה הַכְּלָל - This is the rule, כֹּל שֶׁהוּא מְקַבֵּל טֻמְאָה - anything that can become tamei, וְאֵין גִּדּוּלוֹ מִן הָאָרֶץ - or it does not grow from the ground, אֵין מְסַכְּכִין בּוֹ - we cannot cover the sukkah with it, וְכָל דָּבָר - and anything, שֶׁאֵינוֹ מְקַבֵּל טֻמְאָה - that cannot become tamei, וְגִדּוּלוֹ מִן הָאָרֶץ - and it grows from the ground, מְסַכְּכִין בּוֹ - we can cover the sukkah with it,
