Sampling - The aim is to select a representative sample so that generalisations can be made , Sample frame - a list of all the members of the target population , Random sample - every member of the population has an equal chance of being included in the sample, Stratified sampling - if the researcher has a sampling frame that shows the main characteristics of the population, it is possible to ensure that the sample includes the right proportion in each category , Quota sampling - the researcher establishes how many participants are needed in each category and goes looking for them , Systematic sampling - the researcher calculates how many people from each group are required , Snowball sampling - Interviews an individual and then asks them to suggest who else might be interviewed , Volunteer sampling - Invite people to volunteer for the research , Purposive - when the researcher has limited time and/or there is no sampling frame available, they might set out to find people with the characteristics that are relevant to the study , Opportunity/Convenience - easy for the researcher to contact ,
