This part of the word is always capitalized and italicized., Species - The most specific category. There are no two organisms with this same name. This word is always lowercase and italicized., Carl Linneaus - The scientist responsible for creating the taxonomy hierarchy (classification system), DNA - The genetic makeup which is studied to identify similarities between organisms, Dichotomous keys - A systematic tool used to identify and name species, Binomial Nomenclature - The two name naming system to identify species. The first part is capitalized, the second part is lowercase and both parts are italicized. ,
