THE CRUST: the layer we live on, the thinnest layer of the Earth, there are two types. Oceanic & Continental, covers approximately two- thirds of the Earths surface., THE MANTLE: 2,900km thick, the thickest layer, makes up around 80% of the total volume of the Earth., is semi-molten, sort of like a malleable plastic ( a bit like toffee)., convection currents are found here, THE INNER CORE: the hottest part of the Earth, reaching temperatures up to 5,200 degrees Celsius, It is made up of solid iron and nickel, around 1,200km thick., as hot as the surface of the sun, THE OUTER CORE: lies beneath the mantle, liquid iron and nickel layer, creates Earth's magnetic field, 2,200 km thick, up to 4,300°C,
