Empowerment - Work with person centred decisions and informed consent at the heart of care. Adults should receive support that puts them in control as much as possible, is personal to them and chosen by them, Prevention - Action should always be taken before any harm to the adult occurs. Make sure you know how to recognise the signs of abuse and how to report any suspected issues without putting the individual at increased risk of harm, Proportionality - Any responses should be restricted to only what is required. It should be non intrusive to the adult and any next steps should be done in a way that doesn’t overwhelm the individual, Protection - Organisations should have systems in place to protect adults, which involves contacting the appropriate authorities and following suitable safeguarding procedures when needed, Partnership - Services within the community should work together to prevent, detect and report abuse and neglect. A response can often be quicker and more effective if multiple agencies report concerns over abuse and neglect. Appropriate and effective communication also makes abuse less likely to be detected., Accountability - Safeguarding should be delivered transparently and with accountability. The person, or their nominated representative, should understand the role of everyone involved in their care and be able to contact them when required,
